Roof Decking & Plywood Replacement in Wasaga Beach & Simcoe County 705 Roofing provides professional

Residential roofing services from one local crew

705 Roofing works on houses and cottages across Simcoe County, Georgian Bay and Muskoka, from our base in Stayner. We do shingle roofs, metal roofs and the parts under them: the wooden deck, the attic vents and the attic insulation. Every service on this page has its own page with the detail. This page tells you which one fits your roof.

If you are not sure what you need, call us or ask for a free quote. We look at the roof and the attic and tell you what we see.

Roof repairs

A roof repair fixes one fault and leaves the rest of the roof in place. Many roof leaks start at a joint, not in the middle of a slope: the flashing around a chimney or a skylight, a cracked rubber boot on a plumbing pipe, a valley, or a vent. Missing shingles after a wind storm and lifted ridge caps are the other common calls.

Our page on roof repair services covers flashing, vents and pipe boots, leak tracing, and how we decide between a repair and a new roof. A repair makes sense when the roof is not near the end of its life, the shingles around the fault still lie flat, and the deck under them is sound.

Roof replacement

A replacement takes the old roof off down to the wooden deck. We check every sheet of the deck, replace the soft ones, and build the roof back up: ice and water shield at the eaves and in the valleys, synthetic underlayment, then the shingles, with the flashing and the vents worked in as the shingles go on. Most of our shingle roofs use Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration.

Read more on our roof replacement page. A new shingle roof from us comes with our 10-year workmanship warranty. Owens Corning System Protection is usually included in the price.

Metal roofing

We install standing seam metal roofs on houses and cottages. The panels run from the ridge to the eaves with raised seams, so there are no exposed screws in the flat of the roof.

Our metal roofing page explains standing seam roofs and what to expect on a metal job. The panels we use are Canadian-made, and the maker gives a paint finish warranty. Our 10-year workmanship warranty covers a new metal roof too.

New construction roofing

We roof new homes for local builders. On a new house the deck is fresh, so the job is about the right underlayment, the right ventilation for the attic as it is framed, and clean flashing at every wall and valley before the trim goes on.

See new construction roofing for how we work with a build schedule.

Roof decking and plywood replacement

The deck is the layer of plywood or OSB that the shingles are nailed to. When it stays wet, from a slow leak or from warm, damp attic air, it goes soft and the nails stop holding. On a tear-off we walk the deck and replace every soft sheet before anything new goes down. On some jobs that is a few sheets. On one Barrie roof in spring 2026 it was the full deck.

The roof decking and plywood replacement page shows what soft decking looks like from the attic.

Attic insulation and ventilation

A roof and its attic work as one system. Warm air that leaks up from the house melts snow on the roof, and the water refreezes at the cold eaves as an ice dam. Moist house air that cannot get out can condense on the cold underside of the deck. Good ventilation pulls outside air in at the eaves and lets it out at the ridge or the roof vents. Air sealing and enough insulation on the attic floor keep most of the house heat out of the attic.

We install roof vents, rafter vent baffles and blown-in insulation, most often while the roof is open. Our attic insulation and ventilation page includes a free attic inspection and estimate.

How a job runs

  1. You call or send the quote form. We set a time to look at the roof.
  2. We look at the roof and, where we can get in, the attic. We tell you what we found and what we would do.
  3. You get a quote.
  4. On a replacement we tear off, check the deck, and build the new roof in one sequence.
  5. On a new roof, you get the warranty details for your roof.

Work we do not do

We are a roofing crew, and we keep to roofs. We do not install or repair eavestroughs, soffit, fascia or siding. We do not do cedar or synthetic shakes, slate, clay or concrete tile, heat cables, or commercial flat roofs. If water is coming off your roof edge in the wrong place, we check the roof side of the problem (the drip edge, the flashing, the attic vents) and tell you if another trade needs to look at the rest.

Where we work
